Corrosion Resistant Vacuum Pump Manufacturer
Corrosion resistant vacuum pump is the contact part of all gases, all with corrosion resistant coating or corrosion resistant material, and flange gaskets are made of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE).
The corrosion-resistant vacuum pump is designed to come into contact with all types of gases. it is ideal for handling corrosive process gases found in chemical, pharmaceutical, and petrochemical industries. Applications include filtration, vacuum distillation, rotary evaporation, vacuum concentration, centrifugal concentration, and solid-phase extraction. Let’s delve into the features of this corrosion-resistant vacuum pump.

Why is it so difficult for vacuum pumps to resist corrosion?
- There are many types of corrosion, including chemical, electrochemical and physical corrosion.First of all, most vacuum pumps are made of metal materials, and metal corrosion resistance is a natural weakness. Corrosion is the damage caused by materials under the influence of the environment, and there are many types of them. In the pump operating environment, metal materials are subject to chemical, electrochemical, and physical cross-corrosion, and there are many of them. Physical corrosion mainly refers to cavitation, which occurs in environments with high flow rates of liquid and pressure changes. When bubbles burst, shock wave pressure is generated, which can tear metal particles and cause equipment to deform. No matter which material of vacuum pump you choose, if you make a mistake in the early selection, choose a vacuum pump with too large a pumping capacity, or operate it improperly during later use, cavitation will occur!
- High flow rate of medium in the pump accelerates corrosion. High flow rates will greatly accelerate the corrosion rate! Therefore, if a certain material has better acid resistance, it only refers to the corrosion rate under static immersion conditions. There is still a considerable difference between the corrosion rate under high-flow conditions of the vacuum pump!
- Increased temperature within the pump will accelerate corrosion. After the vacuum pump has been running for a long time, its own mechanical operation will generate heat energy, and the extracted gas will also bring heat. In some cases, the working fluid inside the pump chamber will also generate vaporization heat, so the temperature of the vacuum pump is inevitable. Let’s take the corrosion of gray cast iron by sulfuric acid as an example. For every increase of 10℃, the corrosion rate of gray cast iron by sulfuric acid doubles. Even for stainless steel 316L with excellent corrosion resistance, as the temperature of hydrochloric acid increases, hydrochloric acid also accelerates the corrosion rate of stainless steel 316L.
- Concentration changes also affect corrosion efficiency. When the temperature remains constant, changes in medium concentration may accelerate or decelerate the corrosion rate. The main reason for deceleration is that some metals will produce a passivation film. On the other hand, the anti-corrosion of metals by passivation film has great limitations. It must be within a certain concentration range, or it must be a certain type of acid, such as As the concentration of sulfuric acid increases, the corrosion resistance of gray cast iron is enhanced, while as the concentration of hydrochloric acid increases, the corrosion resistance of stainless steel 316L becomes weaker.
- Complexity of working conditions. What I have mentioned above are only some basic difficulties in corrosion resistance. They are only the basic conditions for the wide variety of corrosion, high flow rate, temperature and concentration to accelerate corrosion. However, in practical applications, we often find that the gas you want to pump contains media, the working conditions of each chemical unit are different.
